Split a measure between staves
When I work with lyrics, there is often a pick-up note in the new line of text. Is it possible to split a measure between two staves? As an example, I will use the common Christmas song: Joy to the World!
If I wanted the first stave to include the lyrics: Joy to the world, the Lord is come;
And the second to begin with: Let earth receive her King;
Is there a way to cut the measure between the notes for "come" and "Let"?
(In this case it is a dotted quarter note followed by an eighth note in a 2/4 measure setting.)
For well-known songs this is not as important, but for new songs it can help readability. Thanks!

To split the measure between 2 staffs, select the note you want to start the new line and from the menu select Edit|Measure|Split Measure before Selected note. The enter a Line Break in the first part of the measure from the Breaks and Spacers palette.

It's difficult to answer your specific question as I'm not sure which of the methods described in that handbook article were available in 2017 when the post that you are replying to was written. I suspect that they may all have been.

I may have been looking in the wrong place. I’ll give that a try. Thanks!
