Musescore cannot find printers under windows
Hi,
For some reason, Musescore has suddenly stopped seeing any printers. It was fine until yesterday, but now I get an error message. When I try to 'add printer' from within Musescore, it says the local print spooler is not running.
However, all other applications work fine e.g. Word, Acrobat and can see the printers within Control Panel. I've tried re-booting the machine, but the same conditions apply.
I'm using Musescore v1.2, Windows Vista.
Any help gratefully received.

No idea what might cause this, but it sounds like the sort of weird system glitch that would be likely to go away upon rebooting.

Marc,
Thanks for your reply. I've shut the machine right down and it's still not working. My next step is to uninstall/reinstall Musescore and see if that cures it.
Still odd though.
All other ideas (from anyone) still welcome.
Thanks in advance.

Try to revert Musescore to factory settings instead of reinstalling it. See Revert to factory settings
But it looks more like a system error... Did you install a new printer recently? or change any configuration on your printer(s) ?

Hi,
I tried reverting to factory settings, but that didn't work either :( However, I have solved it - and I've posted here in case it happens to anyone else. I usually run Musescore as a 'standard' user within Vista, but I tried running it as 'Administrator' instead - and it worked! I then went back to the standard account and it worked there too.
So I don't know what the root cause was, or why it happened, but the problem is now solved.
Thanks for your help - and maybe this could be of use to others too.

I've just loaded up Musescore and went to print something I'd imported from Noteworthy and all I had in my print dialog box was "Add printer" - strange I thought. And when I tried to add a printer it didnt find anything on the network. But when I ran MUsescore as Administrator - hey presto - all my printers appeared. So it's almost certainly an authority issue running as a standard user. I havent rebooted yet to see if the issue goes away like in Vista but will report back later today.

Thanks for posting the solution bassyboy.
