Line Break Command
Attached are two files illustrating some unpredictable results I have with the line break command. The "before line break" file shows a system with 5 measures. I would like that system to have 4 measures. After inserting the line break to get the desired 4 measures, the result is reflected in the "after line break" file where the measure extends for the length of the entire system. Don't know what causes this or how to fix it. Ordinarily I have great results with this command but there comes a time when I get this result. Would appreciate some advice. Thanks for the help.

Not clear what result you are expecting. Each line of a score *is* normally extended to fill the width of the page. The only except is the last line, if it is especially short. If this is truly the last line of your piece and you don't want it extended, you can increase the "Last system fill threshold" in Style / General / Page. But it doesn't really look to me like that is the last measure of the piece. As soon as you add measures you'll see things look normal.
