MIDI interface not working

I'm stumped.
I just bought some midi to USB cables (which are registering as operative in Windows Device Manager) but am not getting any note input from my attached keyboard (an old KORG SP-250, and yes, note input and midi input are selected on the MS toolbar). Interestingly in MuseScore's I/O preferences there is nothing listed (and an inability to list) under "MIDI input".
I've been through the forum here but not found a solution.

I don't use MIDI so the only thing I know is to make sure the device is plugged in before starting MuseScore. You can also look for know incompatibilities ( https://musescore.org/en/handbook/known-incompatibilities ) to make sure your device is not on it.
