bass tab wrong octave in 2.1 RC
I downloaded 2.1 RC. Please forgive me if this is the wrong place to post this.
bass octave wrong in tab.mscz
Bass tab is wrong by an octave, or am I missing the correct instrument to use?
Out of principle I reset to factory settings to no avail.
Thanks

This seems a regression introduced with Make piccolo flute and all string basses transposing instruments with standard clef, instead of non-transposing instruments with octave clefs, for #153891: Electric basses are still non-transposing instruments with F8vb clef, https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/2952, but also the earlier PR https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/2781

For what it's worth, to be clear, I do want the non-8 bass clef.
It would be nice if it behaved like the new guitar (treble clef) with correct tab.

Using the F8vb clef and no octave transposition would be the workaround.

Yes, thanks.
I was just wondering if this was a neglected item, as effort was put into and solved making a transposing guitar which works fine (but for the 8va line, but oh well). Thanks for the links to the issue; I searched but hadn't found it.

another is to change the string data one octave up, i.e. E1 to E1, A1 to A2, D2 to D3 and G2 to G3. It then still sounda right and in the Status bar thes get named right, only the string data is now fake.

I believe I tried that with 2.0.3 - gave up.
Working backwards through all my parts may have been the reason.
Maybe I will attempt again.

This seems what has happend to "Guitar (Treble clef)", it has E3, A3, D4, B4 and E5, instead of E2, A2, D3, B3 and E4, so 'fakes' the strings' pitches up an octave up

Gotcha - thanks much.

Saw that, thanks.
Note in my file the transposing happens correctly-ish - the 8 comes and goes,
but the bass tab is still an octave too high.
Might it be too much to ask for a similar bass in the actual program, so I and others won't have to create one?

That is why I've just reopened #153891: Electric basses are still non-transposing instruments with F8vb clef, we need that fixed for the final release of 2.1

Great, thanks. Should I get involved in the issue? or is it covered?

Issue filed: #186876: Regression: notes for bass guitars show in wrong octave in normal staff vs. tablature staff
Thanks for reported that.
