brackets or parenthesis within lines
Hello
is there a way to add brackets on a given line inside a score (as opposed to in front of a system)? I'd need that feature to show where I'm adding something personal to the medieval score i'm transcribing. the brackets and parenthesis should be able to surround a sharp or a flat sign (if I assume there's one lacking), a single note (if I assume it was noted incorrectly in the manuscript) or a whole series of notes (if I have to imagine music to supplement a missing part for instance, but signal that it was not part of the original).
thanks for your help and ideas on this.

Sure, see the accidentals palette and the noteheads palettes for the parentheses.

In the accidental palette are parentheses that can be put around accidentals or notes. If you want one set of parentheses around several notes you can
i) use the parentheses from the accidental palette on the first and last notes and delete the unwanted parenthesis or
ii) Use staff text for each parenthesis and move it to where you want it. You can resize this bracket so it may be more desirable in longer passages that i.
My opinion:
Instead of adding some parentheses or brackets to the score, you can select that part (or individual note, or accidental, etc...) and assign (different) colors in inspector. (F8 to toggle inspector panel)
So the part you are suspicious about or the part you have changed can be understood easily.
But I do not know what the standard practice of this job is.

The different colors usually aren't sufficiently different when printed in black and white, so brackets are normal.

thanks. i thought about different colors. they would work in this context, but not in other medieval repertoires that used colors to show rythm changes and that should appear in diplomatic transcriptions.
You can do lots of things (perhaps unconventional):

Thanks to everyone's help, I actually found brackets in the stave text section by clicking on the little alpha sign at the bottom. it offers a menu with "chord signs" containing brackets.
