Impossible to launch Musescore 1.3 on Mountain Lion
Hi,
We have MuseScore 1.2 installed on Mountain Lion, no problem. When we try with last version, MuseScore quits and can't be launch.
You can see the crash log in attachment.
An idea ?
Any help would be appreciated, MuseScore is installed in our classrooms in Geneva, Switzerland
Thanks
Christian

What kind of Mac are you running MuseScore on? See the Apple menu -> About this mac.
Can you make sure to delete the MuseScore 1.2 app from Applications menu before installing 1.3?

Isn't that info in the crash log.txt the OP provided?
Hi,
I'm bot at work but it's an iMac of 2011, also tested on iMac 2010.
Old musescore and old preferences have been deleted before launching new version.

I'm not familiar with the Mac file layout for apps, but in the log file "+libogg.0.dylib (6.3) <05E8FC73-8773-F306-5379-F5CF5D07FC22> /usr/local/xuggler/lib/libogg.0.dylib" exists in the library local to the user which overrides the other libraries. Should these local ones be removed, and maybe MS re-installed again?

Good catch indeed.
Hi,
The problem comes in fact after the installation of Tracker (http://www.cabrillo.edu/~dbrown/tracker/) which installs Xuggler to read video. In a fresh install of 10.8, no problem.
It seems that Xuggler installs a library which wont't be accepted by MuseScore 1.3. But no problem with MuseScore 1.2.
As we need Tracker on our computer in classrooms, the only choice is to keep MuseScore 1.2, and don't install MuseScore 1.3.
Or somebody has an other idea ?
Thanks

Xuggler probably modified LD_LIBRARY_PATH during the installation, and did it for the whole machine... Not very nice.
You could verify by running in a terminal.
echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
echo $DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH
If one of them is not empty and contains the Xuggler path, then you should be able to launch Musescore 1.3 from the terminal with
set $LD_LIBRARY_PATH=
open /Applications/MuseScore.app
If it works, you could make a shortcut on the desktop to do this. Hope it helps.
