How to delete embedded full measure rests
I am writing 4-part a cappella harmonies. When I open a new document, all three staffs have full rests in every measure. When I enter notes on the 1st soprano (#1-blue)/2nd soprano (#2-green) line, all of the rests disappear as I go. But when I enter alto notes on either of the other lines, the rests remain in every measure, regardless of what I have entered as notes and rests. I have been unable to select and delete them. I have tried entering both alto parts on the same line, but that also does not get rid of them. Why do they remain? How can I get rid of them? They will be very confusing to my choir members.

"4-part" vs. all "three staffs"??
Anyway, it seems you enter the alto notes in the 2nd staff as voice 2.
Rests in Voice 1 can't get deleted, so don't do this, enter all notes as voice 1 in a 4 staff SATB score (open score). In a 2 part SA/TB score (closed score), you'd use voice 1 and 2.
Only alternative: hide the rests, right-click->invisible

I've been flying by the seat of my pants. I see now what you mean about entering everything as a #1. But then what are 2, 3, and 4 for? Never mind. Now that I've done all the entry work, I'd hate to start from scratch. Ii tried that right-click invisible thing before I entered the forum question. It did not work. THANKS

...If you have Display → Show Invisible marked, the rest still shows in gray on your screen...

That worked--THANKS. I had tried that previously, but when the rest didn't disappear, I thought I wasn't do it correctly, or that it meant something differrent than I hoped it did. I never moved to the next one, so I never saw the gray. Appreciate your help.

2,3 and 4 are for 2nd, 3rd and 4th voice in the same staff.
Now you can swap voices 1 and 2, then you can delete the rests in voice 2
What about right-click (on a rest) and make invisible doesn't work for you?
You may still see them, in gray, but they won't print.

That worked. I was expecting them to go away altogther, so didn't think the "invisible" had worked. Thanks!
