Musescore 2.03 Segmentation fault with kxstudio repos in ubuntu
HI, im on MInt Mate 18. Musescore worked great in default instalation but since I added kxstudio repos and installed cadence to manage the audio through Jack musescore crashes constantly with the Segmentation fault log.
Also it says "Sample::decompressOggVorbis: open failed: File contains data in an unimplemented format."
I trieed with alsa, with jack , reinstalling pulseaudio but none seems to work.
Any help will be much apreciated!

When you say it crashes "constantly", can you give precise steps to reproduce such a crash? Is it only during playback, or does it crash on startup, or what?

It crashes whenever I try to open Musescore. I cant use musescore at all.
The only way I found to open it is through terminal "mscore -s" but audio doesnt work at all this way.

"Sample::decompressOggVorbis: open failed: File contains data in an unimplemented format."
It indicates that MuseScore fails to open the SF3 soundfont on startup. Do you use a custom soundfont or the stock one from kxstudio? There could be a problem in the soundfont, and maybe it's cached when you reinstalled? Or they could be a proble in the version of libogg used by kxstudio.

I checked and I have libogg 1.3.2-1. Thats the default in mint mate 18, not from kxstudio.
Also I use the stock font from musescore, I didnt install (not that I know) a stock soundfont from kxstudio.
After over a month having this problem and searching the forums, I still not have an idea of what breaks musescore. I only realize it happened at some point after installing kxstudio repos...
at this point Im close to reinstall the system again and reproduce the steeps until I realize at which point it breaks exactly and why so I can give more proper feedback.
UPDATE: I still cannot use musescore on Mint Mate 18 with kxstudio repos and cadence. everithing works, pulseaudio and the bridge with other apps are working ok but somehow it doesnt work with musescore.
In the meantime I tryied installing in another partition Mint 18.2 KDE, It works ok but I still didnt try to install kxtudios repos there.
So, no solution or even a clue of whats wrong yet.

Best guess is that kxstudi is installing a library specific to it that prevents MuseScore from working properly. Try installing the AppImage of MuseScore because its libraries should come "wrapped" with the program.

Already did it, but mostly the same problem, it crashes at opening.
There is a little diference though, I tried MuseScore-2.1-x86_64.AppImage and it crashes with this message in terminal:
Sample::decompressOggVorbis: open failed: Not a valid SNDFILE* pointer.
/tmp/.mount_TRvXvI/AppRun: línea 18: 1513 Segmentation fault "${APPDIR}/bin/mscore-portable" "$@"
UPDATE: I finally reinstalled Mint Mate 18 64 bit and after installing all the software I use, musescore included, I reinstalled kxstudio repos and everything works now.
So I dont have a clue what was generating the problem I had! (and I will close this thread)
Anyway, just in case someone want to install kxstudio repos running smoothly with cadence and all bridges I used these commands:
sudo apt-get install apt-transport-https software-properties-common
wget https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/kxstudio/+files/kxstudi…
sudo dpkg -i kxstudio-repos_9.4.6~kxstudio1_all.deb
sudo apt-get install libglibmm-2.4-1v5
wget https://launchpad.net/~kxstudio-debian/+archive/kxstudio/+files/kxstudi…
sudo dpkg -i kxstudio-repos-gcc5_9.4.6~kxstudio1_all.deb
sudo apt install cadence pulseaudio-module-jack a2jmidid pavucontrol
sudo adduser myuser audio

I'm trying to see if kxstudio had anything to do with why yours is working now, but the repository doesn't seem to include cadence for some reason. Do you have any insight on that or is my train of thought silly and I should just make a new topic?
