Not as an option! There is enough options. Can you explain for anyone what you mean by "melisma" and "kar files" ? It will help to have some discussion going on.

As far as I know .kar is MIDI with Lyrics, hence can have melismas. On Import of .kar those should result in the corresponding noted to be slured.
Whether an option (in the MIDI Import Panel) or not: it should be the default IMHO
I suggested the option incase there was a legit reason for slurs not to be utilised (maybe older music, or a certain style, etc), but if all music should do it, then I agree with having no option.
