MuseScore on Suse 11.2?

• Jan 11, 2014 - 15:10

Hello everybody,

please don't get mad at this question from someone elderly and quite computer illiterate.

For reasons to muddled to explain, I've got OpenSuse 11.2 on my computer, although I really don't have the first clue about Linux...

So: Can I use MuseScore?

If yes: What do I have to do? If it could be explained with as little computer jargon as possible, I'd be most grateful. Instructions of the type "click-on-the-little-button-which-says-x-and-a-window-will-open" are most suitable for me. Please note, too, that I've never had a go at installing anything.

Erm - this is not a hoax.

Thanks in advance
Susanne

Susanne, welcome to the MuseScore forum and please try not to be too disheartened that no-one has answered your query yet. It's just that not many here appear to use SUSE 11.2.

It is, however, mentioned in the MuseScore Downloads page and links:
//software.opensuse.org/search?q=musescore&baseproject=openSUSE%3A11.4&lang=en&exclude_filter=home%3A&exclude_debug=true

OpenSUSE is, IMHO, a fine OS but it requires a bit of user effort. I have used, in the past, Apple (from Apple II in 1982 through various incarnations), DOS, OS/2, Windows, BeOS, RedHat, OpenSUSE, Puppy, ubuntu etc. I have only run MuseScore in Windows and xubuntu and I use the latter not because it is the best OS but because it is basically the easiest to live with.

So, basically, unless anyone else chips in you need to find out how - in general - you install an application in Open SUSE and then go to the Downloads page for MuseScore.
