Any idea why the quarter note is not displaying correctly?

You changed your tempo text style to a font that doesn't support a quarter note?

I haven't changed text-style as I know of.
But I'll check.

Tempo-font is currently "FreeSerif"
Changing to Bravura changes the font of the tempo, but no change for the quarter-note
Please attach the score, an image is not sufficient to tell where the problem might be

Try uninstalling Bravura, not MuseScore. That is what Shoichi meant and what is know to fix this kind of issues

That file looks fine on my machine:

Tried changing
Style > General > Partitur > Font for music
to Bravura (from emmentaler)
the sign disappeared al together.
The note looks fine in special character insert box
Sorry if any confusion due to Norwegian version of Musescore.

I refer to previous conversations, eg.
'Do you have a font called Bravura installed on your system?
If you do, delete it - MuseScore includes the Bravura font already. Or, if you need it for another application, at least update it to the current version.'

Check whether that font is needed at all, MuseScore certainly does not need it, it brings its own. If no other program needs it, just delete that font.

My guess is that some other program might need it,
Reaper, Notion, Finale
