Need Help Extending Stems

Hello All,

I have searched for an answer for this, came close, but no solution.

This is what I have:

It is the 5th measure of the first Hanon exercise and is a screenshot from musescore.

This is what I would like:

It is from the Virtuoso Pianist book. You'll see that the first 2 16th notes extend to the lower staff. That is what I am trying to reproduce, and I am at a loss for figuring it out.
