GUITAR FRETBOARD DIAGRAMS FROM TAB

• Jan 5, 2018 - 16:50

Hi is it possible now, or in the near future, to write a chord shape in tab and have a chord diagram automatically generated from this? As it is now I have to manually change existing chord diagrams and save them to the palette. I had an old Sibelius program from 2005 for guitar called G7 that did this. Happy New year, and- Thanks in advance for your help on this. SG

That has switched the tab to the top. Could be useful. I need the chord boxes to visualise the shapes on the fretboard. I have been using music software since 1986. I have played guitar since 1975. I would like certain features, is that ok?

I have found that asking questions or asking for new features on this forum provokes a hostile response. and a questioning as to why anyone would want what I ask for. Most businesses or creators of products or software welcome active involvement and feedback of their users, to me this does not seem to be the attitude of the web forum administrators here.

Most of the time, questions such as "Why do you want to do this?" allows the questioner, or others, to give you an alternative method for what you are trying to do. A lot of questions are asked here where the motive of the question is not understood by others. There are an abundance of features in MuseScore that others have adapted, often to make the notation that you are seeking.

Cadiz1 in particular is very smart about the capabilities of tablature in MuseScore with a lot of experience reading and writing fretted string music.

As far as hostile responses are concerned, I have seen those also. There are people on these forums that will tell you you're not supposed to do certain notations, but IMHO, the user knows what he wants, and others on the forum should respect that. I will admit that at times I have been guilty of telling others that what they want to do is not commonly acceptable, but I try to talk to other users in a respectful manner.
