Single line percussion notation
Single line percussion notation. I want to use a single (solitary) line as a staff to notate clapping rhythms. I do not want to use the conventional 5-line staff because it is 1) a waste of ink and 2) unnecessary.
In 2/4 time I can get quarter rests to appear, but cannot insert any quarter notes.
What do I need to do? Many thanks!

Where's the problem then? Just pick Handclap as the instrument (just put 'clap' into the search box of the Add Instrument dialog), and get a 1-line staff. To enter notes there (as on any persussion stave) use the shortcut from the drum entry palette (just A in this case), see also https://musescore.org/en/handbook/create-new-score#instruments-and-voic… and https://musescore.org/en/handbook/drum-notation

I enter clap in the search box and get nothing. Same with any single instrument. Any thoughts?

Which version of MuseScore? I suspect it isn't 3.6.2

Don't search in the templates, but in the instruments!
So General > Choose instruments
