The size of a repeat symbol is scaled to the staff, so you can't change that. You can make almost anything invisible by selecting it a pressing V. If you have View->Show invisible checked it will appear gray rather than black.
While the normal measure repeat symbol is the standard size and can't be changed directly - similar to clefs and most other elements, we support standard sizing only - you can always place any symbol as a character within text using the Special Characters palette (press F2 while editing text to display) and size this, if ylou have some special need for non-standard measure repeat symbols.
