Chord symbol playbac
Simple question: is there a way to get chord symbols included in the midi playback? After all, MuseScore knows which tones are in the chord, so it should be possible to play it back as well?
Same question could be asked about figured bass.

No, this is not possible, but has been discussed several times. MuseScore does not really know which notes exactly belong to a chord, this very much depends on instrument, fingering, personal taste....

I'd rephrase that slightly. MuseScore can figure out the technical definition for any given chord (eg, C7b9 is C E G Bb Db). But it is definitely true that it is a long ways from simply knowing what notes are in a chord to producing anything resembling useful playback. Because no one would normally play all those notes in exactly that order, and some sort of rhythm would be needed, etc. That sort of "AI" type of thing is something that other software like Impro-visor specializes in, but it's beyond what MsueScore does right now.

Depends on what you mean by "useful". Of course, it would not sound pretty in most cases, but as a quick aural check for errors, it would certainly be useful. So I'm not thinking of an AI translation of the chord symbols to perfect four-part harmony, only an audible representation of the chord.
Is this something that a plugin might do?

It could.
Someone has made a basic start in https://musescore.org/en/project/generate-notes-chords-annotations

Thanks. Rudimentary, but it works.

Conceivably, and I think some have tried. Not sure if any success was ever achieved.
