Octavas (8va) and similar lines do not change the displayed pitch.
When a note has an 8va line over it, the displayed pitch of the note does not increase. For example, if I put down the note B4 and put an 8va line over it, the pitch will change, but the bottom bar still says the note is a B4. Not sure if this is intentional or not.

I would think this is intentional. 8va/8vb means to play a note an octave higher/lower than written, respectively. It does not in itself raise/lower a note.
In general, the status bar always shows the displayed pitch, not the sounding pitch. In the case of ottavas it might be debatable which is preferable, but the desired behavior is usually more clear when considering, for example, transposing instruments.
