Is number 7 (semibreve) playing up?
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a problem when using the number 7 (semibreve or whole note) for selecting your note length.
Every time I use it the symbol of the semibreve lights up on the top, but when I put a note down, I always end up with a crotchet (quarter note).
I always have to repeat the action a few times before I actually end up with a whole note.
I have just downloaded the latest version of MS (2.2.4?) and had hoped the problem would be gone, as I have experienced it in all the previous versions I have used.
Has anyone else had similar experiences, or does anyone know what the cause/solution is, as it is a highly annoying problem.
Thank you in advance.

What time signature?
Can you attach the score you are having problems with?

Hi Shoichi,
it happens in any time signature (not 3/4 or something, of course, where you don't need semibreves) and in any score I work on.
Every time I want to put a semibreve down, the problem occurs.

No idea.
If it is, could anything be done about that?

Yes, it happened in the first bar I entered a note (after pressing 7), that was the 1st empty bar (bar 8).
After that it seemed to be working as normal.
I haven't got the faintest idea why, though.
Thank you for your input.
If you are not in note input mode, press a number for a different duration, then press a note letter (a-g) you will get a 1/4 note rather than the selected duration. I've often been annoyed by this same result, but I end up fixing it, usually by pressing ww to change the 1/4 to a 1/2 then a whole note.

Yes, that works too.
Thank you.

If you remember to press N to enter note input mode, it won't do this. One of these days I'll learn ;-)
