Musescore and MIDI channels

I am wondering if there is a way to assign which midi channel is applied to a staff?

I work often with automatic musical instruments, and quite often they use multiple channels for different purposes (for example piano- ch.1, pipes ch. 3, drums and toys ch 2, aux controls ch 11) or for another example I also use Hauptwerk for testing my arrangements, and it's default setting is for pedal to be ch 1, accompaniment is ch 2, great ch 3, and solo ch 4, with other controls on other channels.

So far all I have discovered is that I have to add more instruments for additional channels, which in some cases results in several blank staffs, or in the case of hauptwerk, upside down scores (with the pedal line on top and solo on the bottom.

Any clues or answers?
