Open the attached file (created in MS 2.3). A TAB symbol was applied to the first measure of the tablature staff (from the "Symbols" section of the Master palette). This has disappeared in the nightly.
See also, #278039: Parentheses (from Master palette > Symbols) reset to default positions or lost altogether.

It appears again if you open the the instrument dialogue and change the staff type to tablature.
Further If I export the attached file (without any changes) to musicxml and try to open this file, MuseScore crashes.
It appears also in the nightly, if I change the staff type in the instrument dialogue with 2.3.2
The TAB clef I'm referring to was applied just to the first measure of the score from the "Symbols" section (emmentaler font) of the Master palette and is labelled "6-string tab clef" ("Show clef" was turned off in "Staff Properties"). The TAB symbol is visible in 2.3 but not in the nightly.
That's a pretty old build by now, there have been updates in this area since. I just tried it and I see the symbol. Can you veirfy this is fixed for you?
Position isn't good and needs to be readjusted (whether you accept the reset or not). And realistically, I can't get it to appear where you probably want it, even after disabling autoplace. I think that's because of changes to layout that make it so elements attached to notes can't be positioned into the header area. Might have to add the symbol as text instead.

Yes, the TAB symbol is now visible though way out of its original position. Repositioning it by dragging is impossible because it jumps around when released. The only reliable way to do it seems to be with the offsets in the Inspector.
Missing TAB symbol is the same issue that was fixed by https://github.com/musescore/MuseScore/pull/4243.
So this issue can be closed? Or do you wish to keep it active for the positioning issue?
The positioning issue is separate and should be filed as such. Currently it is possible to position the symbol in the header to align as desired (under the treble clef), and you don't need to disable autoplace to do it. But indeed, drag is erratic, we apparently are calculating offsets badly during the drag. This seems to apply for all "symbols", all staves - nothing specific to tab or 2.x import. Eg, just try adding a symbol to a measure rest in the default score then dragging it.
So, I'm closing this and opening a new one for that.
The new issue is at #279723: Symbols: drag and drop behavior is erratic.
Actually, I had already submitted it - see instead #279610: Dragging to reposition a symbol ("Z" palette) responds erratically on release
