Musescore 3 won't open
I just downloaded Musescore 3.0 in order to open an arrangement my friend sent me that he made on Musescore 3.0. I went through the installation wizard but when I try to open the app it, the blue opening window pops up for a few seconds then goes away, but the app never opens or even pops up on the task bar. I've tried running as administrator and restarting my PC and it still doesn't open. I'm on Windows 10 and Musescore 2.0.3 worked for 2 years up until today so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I hope you can find something useful.
I have the exact same issue! I installed Musescore 3 on Dec. 26 (I was soooo excited to have it before I go to visit friends for the New Year) and it did EXACTLY what you said it does for you. Installation Wizard works fine but it won't open from any angle I try (desktop shortcut, file explorer, desktop shortcut Run as Administrator, file explorer Run as Administrator, etc). I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, restarting my laptop, everything I could think of. After a couple hours, I uninstalled it and put in a Contact Us form. They suggested I post in the forum so that everyone in the community could help and then I saw your post.
Did your laptop/Windows 10 update recently? Mine did two days before I tried to install Musescore 3 and I can't help but wonder if the update invalidated some of the program code.
Sorry I don't have a solution, but I hope one can be found for both of us.
Happy New Year!

My computer updated like last week I think but I'm not sure that's the problem. I managed to get MuseScore open by typing musescore.exe -s into "run" on windows but unfortunaetely that makes it so I think there's no acoustic review function which kind of defeats the purpose for me.
I have the same problem, on both stable Windows 10 and the latest Insider build. The program launches if the synthesizer is disabled, but it also crashes if an option is saved.
I have exactly the same problem :(
Had the same issue, started with "-s" disabling sound. Someone else had this issue and uninstalled Jack Audio to get it to launch, this seems to have worked for me as well.

the collission with JACK should be solved with MuseScore 3.0.2, due very shortly, see #280686: MuseScore 3.0 crashes on opening if JACK Audio has been registered on Windows.
It does not open in my computer too...
I have the same issue. This is annoying.
I found a solution how to run Musescore 3. I have this problem too, but if you want to open Musescore 3 and work with this software, you should open one .mscz file (if you have in your PC one, or download it) and Musescore 3 will work !
I can't open it normally, but if I open one .mscz file, all works.
I hope this information was useful for you.

Then go and disable the startcenter in Preferences

I tried to open a .mscz 3 file by double clicking and the program still won't open. I did not have this problem for the first month or so, but now I do. I'm sure I did the most recent update, but I can't verify it because I cannot open the program. I did a check on the "properties" icon, but it does not show the version number. (I can still open Musescore 2 on my computer though.)
I recently downloaded Musescore 3.0 and installed on mz desktop running Windows 10 and it seems to work fine. I created a few leadsheets and wanted to open them on my laptop also running Windows 10. I already had Musescore 2 installed working perfectly but musescore 3 would not open. After reinstall and even uninstalling Musescore 2 to avaoid any possible conflicts, version 3 still wouldn't open. I read something about asio conflict with musescore so I uninstalled asio4all and installed Musescore 3 again and this time it loaded normall. I o not know yet if I reinstall asio4all if there will again be a problem but for now at least the program seems to be working.
In my case, i downloaded 3 to my external hard drive and it opens but hangs up when I try to open a file.

Where you download the installer to has got nothing to do with where it got installed nor whether it hangs on opening a score.
If you installed it, revert to factory settings first, if need be via command line, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/revert-factory-settings#instruction…

Ok - so I think the program is working fine but the only file I'm trying to open hangs it up. I've attached it here - not sure how to proceed reverting won't help as I never had it working after I reset the computer.

The score hung up my 3.3.2 also. I tried to extract the .mscx and 7zip seemed happy, my Windows knew it was there (when I extracted it again windows asked to replace it), but I cant find it any where. I then tried to drag the .mscx from 7zip to MuseScore and MuseScore hung again. Finally, my xml reader program can't open the .mscx file so I have doubts you can make it work. I'm curious how you created the file.

There were hundreds (perhaps thousands) of hairpins which I deleted. Corruptions remain, but the file may be of some use to you. From where did you get it?

The uncompressed size of the score is 66.8MB, it's too much!
there were thousands of "Hairpin" entries. I erased all of it.
example:
I haven't figured why yet, but if I disable my network connection (turn off wireless card in my laptop) Musescore opens.
If there's an existing instance running in task manager I have to kill it and then launch the app again with the wireless off.
I'm guessing it's trying to connect to something over the Internet that isn't available so it hangs.

Try running with the -w command line option
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/command-line-options
Workaround is to either use -w
-OR-
Start MuseScore by double-clicking a score and then in Edit > Preferences > General uncheck 'Show start center'.
