Chords across barlines

I know this topic has been discussed several times over several years, but it's still a problem and should be revisited.

For those new to the topic, if I enter a note that is longer than the time left for that measure, the program automatically extends the note across the barline with a tie. Yea, that's good.

If I try to construct a chord from that note, it won't do it. It simply replaces the note. Boo, that's bad.

The workaround is to enter the note in the original measure within the time left in the measure, construct the chord, and then change the length of the note, and the whole thing will extend across the barline. Okay, inconvenient, but it does the job.

The problem with that, however, is that if I go back to that chord and add a note, the whole chord is deleted. Boo, that's really bad. It's analogous to your word processor not splitting a paragraph across a page break, you found a trick to get around it, but if you went back and added a word to the paragraph, the whole paragraph would be deleted.

Other programs, even free ones, don't have this problem. Forte, for example, creates the chord across the barline, no problem and with no workaround. I don't want to use Forte, however, because its interface is hideous and its graphics poor.

So, I don't understand what the issue is. Is it technically too difficult? Do the powers that be at Musescore think it's trivial and unimportant? Why can't this get fixed?
