Cross-measure beaming when the 2nd note is on the next stave

I'm putting in some existing scores into MuseScore and came across this problem - in my score there are notes that are beamed across measures (not a problem), but sometimes it begins at the end of a line/staff, so the next measure continues on a new line below. MuseScore seems to get glitchy when this happens and all the beams and stems get screwed up. Any way to achieve this "broken beam" look across different lines/staves?
