Anacrusis

I want to add an anacrusis to an existing score. In fact I want to add 2 anacrusis. I have followed the "How to" from the work book and it does not work for me?
The score is Glen Miller's "Moonlight Serenade" and the original starts with an anacrusis in bar 1. No problem with that as it is added at the beginning when I created the 60 bar blank. However another anacrusis is required in bar 6 (after the 5 bar intro) As the timing is split common with 4 notes to the bar(s) I can not get the anacrusis to create the 1 note it should contain. I am using version 3. Several hours of trial and error have now elapsed...
HELP please.
