Copy singele voice to new staff
I frequently have to perform the following task. I have got a SA TB two staff brass arrangement and want to add a seperate tuba staff inspired by the original bass voice. So I add a new staff for the voice, select the bass voice, copy it, but I can't paste it to the new staff.
My work around up to now is, to copy the tenor-bass voice and paste this to the new staff. This way paste is no problem. After that I change the voices in the new staff, select the tenor part and delete this. After that I delete the rests that occur in the tenor voice and finally receive the separated bass voice and can modify this further. It seems to me that I perform way to much steps but I did not find a shortcut until now.
Does anybody know a smarter way?

How did you select the voice 2? Should work if done via the Selection filter

That constitutes a list selection, but here you need a range selection, and the Selection filter to exclude everything but voice 2
If you want to copy or delete everything in a voice use the selection filter (F6). It lets you choose by voice or omit selecting most items.

Now I have tried the selection filter for the first time. Indeed it'd copied the voice in a way that I could paste it into an empty staff. But though I had selected only one voice after paste I also got a second voice consisting only of rests. Am I missing something, again?

Voice 1 is aways there, even if only as rests. Swap voice 1 and 2, then delete the (now) voice 2 rests

...or just implode the selected bars (-->Tools | Implode).

but that does not take away the rests

sorry for my last post...doesn't work as described (although it should in my opinion)

It works if the notes are in V1 and the rest(s) in other voice than 1. So you should do like Jojo told you. But after exchanging V1 and V2 you could implode anyway - takes less time than filterselect all rests in V2 and then delete them...
