How Do I Delete the Default Whole Rest from my measures?
I am new to Musescore and my score by default has whole rests in each measure. Even when I add the correct number of beats to my measure the rest will not leave and I cannot delete it. This is extremely frustrating. Please help.

You don't. Enter notes or smaller rests and it changes to fill out the measure. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/note-input
Always start with voice 1, as voice 1 rests can't get deleted. And don't use insert mode without really wanting it.
My guess from the picture is that you have changed to "insert mode", which indeed does exactly what you are seeing - it inserts more notes without overwriting the existing content. This is obvous not what you want, which is why insert mdoe is not the default. it's really only intended for some very special unusual situations, not normal note input. So switch back the default "step time" note input using the drop-down menu next to the thr note input icon on the toolbar.

I think I checked off the box above the default half-way through. The treble clef has no leftover whole rests in it, but the bass clef does--in the space between the two staves (Grand Staff) intermingled with the tenor notes. I unchecked the box and have highlighted the rests (they turn blue), but I can't get them to disappear, whether I use 'delete', cmd delete, or cmd X. Treble is fine. Thanks for your help.

Looks to me like you accidentally entered your notes in voices other than 1 and 2. You need to change the top notes to voice 1 and the bottom notes to voice 2. See https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices

Thank you. I did click the voice I am working on. After the restart it didn't want to leave #1. Finally got it to go to #3, but then the "note" box got checked and the rests stay. I've already started over once because I couldn't get things to work. Like I said, thank you for trying.

You should not need three voices on a single staff in SATB music, so you shoudln't be pressing the voice 3 button at all. you on;y need two voices per staff -1 & 2 for S & A on the top staff, 1 & 2 for T & B on the bottom. You skipped voice 1 on the bottom staff - don't. Always start with voice 1, whether you are writing on one staff, two staves, or 27 staves. Each staff starts with voice 1.

The "note" keeps rechecking itself and doesn't get rid of the rests. This is SATB Closed score. I restarted my computer. I clicked the update for Musescore when I opened the program. It's not working. Help!

In closed score SATB it is pretty unlikely you need anything but voice 1 (Soprano and Tenor) and voice 2 (Alto and Bass)

You need to swap the notes of one of the voices with those voice 1 rests.
See:
https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/voices#exchange-voices
Then, after the swap, you will be able to delete those rests since they will no longer be voice 1.
If necessary, please attach your score and someone here can give you a detailed procedure to follow.
