work as described in the use manual. The half note is not replaced by the triplet set but is followed by the triplet set and cannot be deleted. See bar 15 in the Soprano line in the attached score. This bar should be a half note followed by a triplet of quarter notes. Note the bar has a + symbol (not explained anywhere) above it and the bar is now extended to include two extra quarter notes!

Of course can it get deleted: seletc the triplete number or bracket and press Del.
Selecting the half note at the beginning of that measure and pressing Ctrl+3 does creat a quarternote triplte at the beginning of the measure
Seliging the half rest at it's end and doing Ctrl+3 does too.
So I don't understand at all what your problem is.
Thankyou JoJo-Schmitz,
I did not know that a triplet can only be deleted by selecting the numeral or bracket. THIS IS Not explained in the User Guide.
I still have a problem - please see the attachment - a screen capture of bars 14, 15, and 16. I cleared bar 15 and repeated the process and obtained the correct result but noticed that the bar still contains 6 notes, not 4!
How do I correct this? The two-note rest cannot be deleted!
Thanks
Shaun

This is the easiest way. You can also click the first note then shift+click the last note then press delete and the triplet will be deleted.
You somehow managed to add beats to the measure (as indicated by the blue + above it). To get rid of the extra beats. Select a 1/2 rest and press ctrl+delete.

The only way I have been able to get bar 15 back into a usable state has been to use Tools/Bar/Remove Selected Range followed by Add/Bars/Insert One Bar.
I tried once again to create a triple from the first note in the bar but it still does not work; Please see the attached screen capture.
Regards
Shaun
Part of the problem might be that you are on a Mac. You need to press the button with the butterfly looking thing on it along with 3 to make a 1/2 note or rest into a triplet. You can do this in note entry mode:
Click the spot you want to enter the 1/2 note triplet
Press N for note entry mode (optional you don't have to be in note entry mode.
Press 6 to tell MuseScore you will work with a 1/2 note
press ctrl+3 (Mac that butterfly looking button + 3)
you now have a triplet with a bar above it and 3 1/4 notes and or rests
Start entering notes (press a-g) The notes default to 1/4 notes so you only need to press a duration button if you want a different duration, like 8th notes or 1/2 notes in the tuplet.
As long as you don't do this on the last beat of a measure it will work anywhere in the measure.
actually there is no issue.
