Note Names in Notes Heads
I'm trying to create exercises for a new group of students who have been playing for 1 to 2 years but did not receive comprehensive teaching on note names vs where they are on the staff vs where that applies to their instrument (violin, viola, cello, bass) so I'm working on reviewing material with them but I don't want them to have note names for every single note (especially repeated notes) at this point but, that seems to be the only way the V3 approach works. Does anyone know if I can adjust it to specific notes or does it only run for entire lines?

The automatic facility is intended to be for the whole staff, or at least for whole ranges of measures - you can add a "Staff Type Change" ("S" icon from the Text palette) and change the staff type there using the Inspector.
If you want to do it for just a note here and there, you can instead add the noteheads from the Symbols palette (press "Z" to display, then type "note" into the search box).

Wouldn't it be nice/make sense to be able to select this as a notehead type using the Inspector as well?
Cfr. the stemless option, which also both applies to notes/chords as well as being a staff property.
