Mac OS 10.5.1 Compatibility
I have an air-locked 2009 iMac running OS 10.5.1. I’m currently using MuseScore 1.1 on that machine, but would like to download a higher version, perhaps with a metronome, to my internet computer & transfer it to the other with a flash drive. What version will still be compatible with the old OS? Will my existing files be compatible? Thanks!

MuseScore 2(.3.2) needs at least macOS 10.7, MuseScore 3(.2.3) at least macOS 10.10. You may be able to upgrade to MuseScore 1.3 or 1.2, I don't remember their minimum requirements.
There you would have full score compatibility.

Confirmes that MuseScore 2 needs at least macOS 10.7
But further investigation into older release notes shows that 1.2 and 1.3 already need macOS 10.6, so MuseScore 1.1 really is the last you can run on your macOS 10.5.
But you may/should be able to update your macOS to 10.11 or even 10.13, (depeding on whether it is an earlie 2009 iMac or a later 2009 one), which in either case should enable you to installe MuseScore 2 and 3
"an air-locked 2009 iMac running OS 10.5.1"? That seems odd. The specs listed for the 2009 iMacs at Everymac (https://everymac.com/systems/by_year/macs-released-in-2009.html) suggest they shipped with 10.5.6 and support versions up to 10.11.
