Hi, I would like to know how to set the half note to a certain tempo marking instead of the quarter note since I am working in a 2/2 time. Thank you!

Are you using version 3? Use the tempo palette and insert the tempo that says 1/2note = 80. Change the 80 to whatever you want and MuseScore will understand it.

Yes I am using version 3. The picture shows my current display, I know how to change the BPM but still can't change the quarter note to a half note equaling the BPM.

Tempo Palette. Then click the Tempo Text and use Inspector.

Pick the right tempo text to begin with, the one with the half noted from the tempo palette

There are 2 ways. 1. Delete the current tempo and use the 1/2 note tempo from the palette and change the number as needed. 2. Delete the 1/4 note and press F2 and select the 1/2 note and change the number as needed. MuseScore understands both methods and will adjust the tempo.
