Works fine for me. What version of MuseScore? Could be an issue with your internet connection, perhaps the system blocking the port being used or something. What happens if you click the "Show Details" button, or if you say you want to load anyway?
Indeed, it just works for me too. Resulting score attached

its the latest release
For me it produces a blank screen, I have tried to follow the path and the my_file.xml is there but it is blank. I read the the plugin uses an internet resource to create this file, so as you say it may be something to do with Musescore not connecting via my computer rather than the program itself.

Hi again Mark/Joe
just to update. I have restored my system back to a time when I didn't have MuseScore 3 was not installed. I have reinstalled MuseScore 3 and it appears to be working fine now. So yes, you will be glad to know it was my Mac's OX rather than MuseScore 3

Problem is back in #303495: ABC plugin not working on macOS 10.14 or later, after a fresh OS update, so highly likely related to that (macOS)
