Changing vertical stave distance per page?

I am working on an orchestral score, and I would like to be able to have a higher stave distance value on some pages than others, so that I can line up staves between the pages and overall have a more uniform look (avoiding excessive white space at the bottom). Alas, setting a higher stave distance setting does not prevent the pages with more systems (due to divisi) from falling off the bottom.

I am aware this can be done with spacers, but for a score with so many instruments this would be both extremely time consuming and very difficult to get looking uniform.

My apologies if this question has already been answered, my search did not turn anything up.
