Popping sound when inputting, changing, or playing notes

I have been working on a song in guitar tablature and, after saving, closing, then reopening the piece at one point, a popping noise started whenever a note was input or changed, and the pops occurred with every note during playback. I was at one point messing with the "Mute" text option and changing the guitar to a distortion/overdrive guitar, however I believe I fully undid those effects.
