Transcribing standard notation to guitar tablature.

• Jan 28, 2021 - 10:19

I am a 65 year old novice looking for some advice. I have a piece of music for which I have supplied a screenshot. I've followed the guidelines for transcribing into tab and I get a preview that looks playable. I've included a screenshot. When I click on OK or the other pane (Can't remember it offhand) it reverts to standard notes or I get a totally unplayable tab as shown in the third screenshot. I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong and any help in very simple terms will be a great help.

I notice some things at first sight unfavorable (PDF conversion apparently, and the fact that the Voice part looks like a standard guitar staff, in which case you would have to apply an Instrument change first). But instead of pictures, could you attach the score, it will be easier and quicker to help you efficiently.

Thanks (can be useful for checking and comparating), but my first request was you attached the real score, MuseScore file (.mscz), obtained after conversion as in your first screenshot - see below.
Although I fear this kind of conversion leads to numerous editions of all sort. And so, not especially recommanded for a "novice", as you said, in the program.

Guitar music is notated an octave higher than it sounds. If you don't choose guitar as instrument when starting a new score the playback will thus sound an octave higher than it should. The tab derived from the notes will also be an octave too high. If you change the instrument to guitar after creating a score you will need to transpose all notes one octave down. (notice the G-clef now has a little 8 below it, meaning it sounds an octave lower than written).
