MuseScore Automatic Beaming in Common Time
Is there a way to change automatic beaming while in common time so that three 8th notes in a row don't get beamed together when the first 8th note is on an upbeat following a rest? Right now, I'm manually changing each one. However, I still like having my 8th notes beamed in groups of four when there are four 8th notes in a row so I don't want that to change.
See attached. Top staff is what automatically happens, bottom staff is what I want it to automatically change to.

So from what that handbook tells me is that there is no way to change this to automatically do what I am asking for.

Well, you can, manually. The automatc is just that, it doesn't have and artificial intelligence embedded to detect your special cases

That's what I'm reading too. You can create an issue requesting for this feature.
There is indeed no automatic way to configure/differentiate these type of beams.
You could make a plugin to "fix" them afterwards though.

would it not be possible to add an option "don't start beams on off-beats"?

Thanks for wording it a lot better than I did! I think I'm going to add it to the Issues forum.

Nope, please to the issue tracker
Edit: I see you did: #316591: Suggestion: Toggle Automatic Beaming Starting on Upbeats (in Common Time)

I've commented some there. I think it's a promising idea, although the devil is still in the details!
