Descrescendo & Diminuendo
Hi all. I'm new to Musescore, so please excuse my ignorance here, I am unable to find the decrescendo command and the manual only seems to refer to Diminuendo. My understanding is that Decrescendo is decreasing the volume only and Diminuendo decreases both volume and tempo so two completely different things? Maybe someone could comment or have I got this completely wrong?
Thanks

No, both are the same as far as I know.

You may be talking about ritardando I guess

OK. thank you. I have no idea where I picked that up from.
There have been some musicians in the past who used the term diminuendo differently than the current meaning, but the standard meaning is indeed, same as (and considered more "proper" by many than) descrescendo.
