Beginner..guitar sounds and chords

Started writing some music in Musescore but before I really knew how to use it !
Anyway , drums and piano I am happy with but struggling with the guitar
2 simple things.

How to change the guitar sound to overdrive/distorted. I know I can go into the mixer, select the arrow next to the S and it shows all the different guitar sounds. But I cant work out how to just pick the overdrive one. If I select M(mute) on all the others other than the overdrive its all muted ..what stupidly I doing wrong

I see how to get the tabs rather than add individual strings for a chord can you use add a chord in one step ?

In the mixer, select your guitar channel. Near the top in the Sound entry it probably says Clean Guitar. Hit the down arrow to the right and a drop down list opens. A little below Clean Guitar is Distortion. Select that.
