wrong clef on timpani

Thru the regular interface when creating a new score with timpani, the clef is bass.

Thru the plugin interface when creating a new score with timpani, the clef is treble.

Looking thru old plugin forum posts dating back to 2015, I see people seeking to generically change the clef, but no solutions were presented.

Any recommendations?
