MuseScore doesn't come with many sound effects but those defined by General Midi. So aside from a dog bark in the drumset, there isn't much to work with here.
You of course can always load a custom soundfont and use that to play back whichever samples you feel like.
Could you explain in more detail what kind of sound effects you mean?
The synthesizer comes with sounds a number of things that could be considered sound effects - helicopter, seashore, telephone ring, etc. All the things the General MIDI standard says a soundfont should provide. You can select any of these sounds for an instrument using View / Mixer.
If you mean audio effects like like reverb and chorus, those settings are in View / Synthesizer.
I am very particular about the way I'd like my orchestra to sound, so I try adjusting the reverb and chorus effects in the mixer. Problem is, there is no discernable difference in sound. Could this be yet ANOTHER bug or is my hearing just too bad to detect these differences which would then be infinitesimal(in my opinion)?
The reverb and chorsus buttons only affect external synthesizers - the internal one has no way to apply different amounts of reverb or chorus per channel.
But, this is not the only one soundfont with sound effects.
To use the sound effects, you have to load this soundfont inside Musescore Synthesizer and verify it is at the top of the soundfont list. Then, you have to select the sound effect you want to use with the MuseScore Mixer "Sound" box.
Please, read the following list of instruments to get the sounds you want to get:

There's also the Synthesizer, with the ZITA1 and SC4 effects panels, see https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/synthesizer#effects

That is most unfortunate :-(. But thanks for letting me know.
It is about the SOUNDFONT file you are using.
I'm not sure if there is some "full completed" sound effects soundfont, because I don't know if there is some "universal rule" about this.
Following the Standard General MIDI rules, the soundfont called: "GeneralUser GS v1.471.sf2" has a lot of sound effects.
You can download it from:

As far as I know this one is fully integrated into MuseScore default soundfont, MuseScore_General.sz3 (and the HQ variant too)
