Add ability to completely hide a section of a part

Hello,
Re attached, the Violin part starts at bar 1 with an ad lib 'cadenza'. On the piano part, the piano joins in with the violin from bar 2 and bar 1 does not 'exist'.

I have searched the forums and cannot find out how to do this or if it is even possible?

It would be great to either start a specific part from a particular bar, or possibly more sensibly just completely hide/remove the piano bar 1.
