Strange volume change

• Apr 29, 2021 - 16:41

The attached score has a strange volume change when it jumps to the Coda. (the last three measures) My only guess is that there must be some hidden dynamic marking that is causing the change, but it is definitely not part of an intentional edit.

Typical for my scores, I have edited/moved a lot of markings, inserted/deleted sections, and probably done a lot of unnecessary things to achieve the musical effect, so somewhere in that maze of edits, I threw a dynamic wrench into the works.

I'd be most happy if someone could point out my error(s).

Try adding mp to the first rest of measure 40, from Inspector set by system and made invisible. It could be a consequence of the previous airpin

Thanks so much. This works. I'm a little baffled, as I don't recall dynamics behaving in this fashion before, but this is indeed the solution. I would have thought that MS would remember and carry over the dynamic levels from the To Coda in M21, and not the levels prior to the D.S. in M39

You should put the "mp" dynamic on the instruments in Coda's first measure (the last dynamic seen before the "to Coda" mark).
Because the software will look at which dynamic was valid in the last physical measure before the Coda, not the one where you jumped to Coda.
