is there a chord chatt in muscore so instead of having to type everything in manually eg GMaj7 you can type G and click on the Maj7 bit or whatever

You mention GMaj7
Well, different folk prefer different spellings:
![GMaj7.png]( "GMaj7.png")
The above variants are recognized as chord symbols by MuseScore and so can be played, even transposed,
Now add in m, mi, min, or even - (dash) for the minor chords.
Then m7, mi7, min7, -7
And that's just the beginning....
Hunting through a huge chart containing all the possibilities will take longer than typing your own preference.
