Tied notes
Just starting with Musescore! How do I tie notes across bar lines? i.e. dotted minim in first bar, to be tied to a dotted crochet (same note) in the following bar?

I see the "tied notes" icon at the top, but if I click on it, it goes to the wrong place, not where I want it. HELP!

Make sure both notes have the same pitch. Ties always connect notes of the same pitch.

Of course, you can use shortcuts ("+" instead the icon in toolbar), and for selecting note values.

Thank you for this video, but I still can't make it work; when I click on the "tied" icon, it produces a tie to the next note, not to the dotted minim in the previous bar. What am I doing wrong?
And another totally different question - how do I insert lyrics? I can't see any mention of these on the screen.

Have a look at https://musescore.org/en/handbook/3/ties
You press the tie button when having only the first note selected. During note entry, this action will also enter the 2nd note for you using the then chosen duration. Outside of note entry mode, this action will tie to the next entered note with the same pitch.
