Want to merge two staves into one with ALL the one voice.
Tried all the merge/voice combos and it doesnt work. Neither does implode. There still always appears to be two coloured voices no matter what I do. When I paste into the second stave it deletes the previous data instead, not overwrite or merge. I use syncopated music not simple 4 crotchets in a bar as the example.
I want to select all the notes in a stave regardless of how many voices or parts allocated and press a button to make it ALL the one voice. I can then do this with the second stave then select both staves and the notes will merge automatically into one stave. It appears not able to do this simple task.

In the MIDI import panel set the number of voices to 1. You will now have all your notes in a single voice.
Depending on your needs you can also uncheck "split staff" to end up with all notes in voice 1 in a single staff.

Both those tips did exactly what I was after. Many thanks.
You can also use implode, twice. The first run combines staves onto a single staff as multiple voices, The second run on just the combined staff combined the multiple voices into one.
But, it will only combine what the rules of notation actually allow it to combine. No way to take a whole note and four quarter notes happening at the same time and notate that with one voice; that's the whole point of multiple voices.
