Add the ability to have a chord with different note durations

Currently it seems as though there is no way to have notes of different lengths in the same chord without using a bunch of ties. For example, if I wanted the left hand piano part in 4/4 time to play a bass note of a chord as a whole note and then play the rest of the chord on beats 2, 3, and 4, I have to make the bass note four tied quarter notes rather than use a whole note. I this feature would be a really good way to declutter the workspace.
