Play button not working
For windows 10. With the 3.6.2 version, 64-bit. I have tried with an older version of 3.0. I have tried with a 3.6.2 version but for 32-bit.
In all those version, the play button does not work.
In edit-Preference-I/O, JACK AUDIO SERVER is activated. If I activate Port/Audio, none of the API,DEVICE, MIDI INPUT, MIDI OUTPUT have any options.
I have unplugged and plugged again my usb-headset.
I have installed and uninstalled musescore several times.
I have reset all preferences to default.
I did a computer reset.
Yes, my usb headset has an uptodate driver as of May of this year. I can listen to music, youtube, games and all the usual funs. But not Muse score.
No, I did not yell insults at the program.

6) Going to Edit > Preferences > I/O, I do not have the button that says “Restart Audio and MIDI Devices”
That just cannot be, not in MuseScore 3.6.2 for sure. But instead you can trey the MIDI button in the toolbar, the 5-pin DIN connector icon, off and back on

sorry, that was in v3.0.0
I have reinstalled v3.6.2 and the button is indeed there, but does nothing.
The midi button is greyed out and can not be selected.
Same as View > Synthesizer and View > Mixer.
Is it possible that the program does not see any of my sound devices?

Seems like it.
IIRC there was a problem with MuseScore and the RealTek drivers recently.
Mine works though, on my current PC and with Windows 10 and 11, but I also remember that I couldn't get it to work on my old PC, where worked with Windows 7, but not with 10, not at all.

So, what can I do to make musescore see my sound devices?

Don't unplug and plug in your headphones while MuseScore is running. In fact if you are on a laptop, don't use the headphones at all until sound is working. Use built in speakers. Disconnect everything not built in to the computer. Piano keyboards. Audio interfaces. And the like.
If you must use headphones, make sure they are connected before you start MuseScore.
You don't need to use jack.
Shut down your computer. Don't just restart it. After a few minutes, start the computer. Open MuseScore.
I've seen a few people have success after a few time through the cycle.
I've also seen some who had to reset their OS.

This is not a laptop.
I have shutdown my computer a few times and have waited a few hours and have restarted the computer multiple times.
Resetting my OS is not an option.
So, how can I make musescore detect my sound device?

I removed Exclusive mode from my sound device thingy.
Did a factory reset of musescore 3.6.2
and now it works, (and yes I did verify if it was functioning properly by opening up Final Fantasy-victory fanfare)
Thanks everyone for the tech support.
