Problem converting Midi score to tablature
I imported a Midi file of a pop song and want to transcribe the bass guitar standard notation to tabs. To do this I went to Edit>Instruments and unchecked all but the Bass guitar. Then I selected Tab- 4 str. common from the drop down menu. The problem is the resulting tab notation is displayed all on one string (G string). The tab notes should be distributed among all four Bass strings. Is this a bug with Musescore or am I not doing it correctly?

I think you want to add a tab staff, rather than convert the bass line directly.
So add a linked tab staff, or add a tab staff and copy and paste the bass part into the tab staff. Spend a little time in the manual.
Probably the notes are too high to need the lower strings - most likely everything is an octave too high (a common error when transcribing bass parts, since bass sounds an octave lower than written). Try transposing down an octave (Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+Down) before converting to tab. If that doesn't produce better results, attach your score here so we can understand and advise better.
