Playback audio restarts when changing instrument sound

1) i play my piece

2) during playback i change the sound

3) the playback line keeps going and does not change location

4) the sound changes and starts playing the piece from the start, not where the playback line is
ideally it would start the audio at where the playback line is

5) once the playback line reaches the end, the audio will stop randomly mid way through the piece.

6) sidenote, when playback begins after selecting the first note there's some lag so the first note isn't fully heard. this issue does not happen when you click the rewind button, then play. It does happen if you press rewind during playback
