Hello,
I can enter music notes via my midi keyboard (AKAI MPK mini plus)
on PC with MS3 & MS4
on Mac with MS3
But only in the following configuration it doesn't work:
OS: macOS 12.6,
Arch: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 4.0.0-223472200,
revision: 5485621
Thank you for your help.

Permanent problem prevents note entry with any midi keyboard on MS 4.0.0 and MS 4.0.1
Did you connect and turn on the keyboard before starting MuseScore? Have you selected the keyboard in Edit / Preferences / I/O? Are you in note input mode?

Hello Marc,
Thank you for your message. To all 3 questions the answer is yes.

What makes us think that this is a MuseScore 4 bug for this problem
1) is that note entry via the midi keyboard works perfectly on the same iMac with MuseScore version 3.6.2:
OS: macOS 10.16, Arch: x86_64,
MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.6.2.548020600,
revision: 3224f34
2) The midi keyboard has no problem on the same iMac for entering notes with other applications like GarageBand.
Thanks in advance for your help in solving this problem.
I'm sure you'll be able to help me with this.

Good news, the problem of not being able to enter midi notes with MuseScore4 on my iMac is solved.
I don't know exactly what made it possible to solve the problem.
Here are the things I can tell you about it.
Last week, I did another test, still negative in MS4 version, while with the same hardware configuration in MS3 version, the midi keyboard worked perfectly to enter the notes. Moreover, to facilitate my understanding based on the MuseScore online documentation which is in English, I had also chosen to switch all my macOS from French to English.
This morning by making a small video screen capture with a life commentary, I planned to provide you with the proof of the persistent dysfunction object of this ticket 341032 . Just to try and get things moving...
The scenario I imagined was simple, in a first step I will show, on the left half of the screen, the good working of the notes entry by the midi keyboard with the MuseScore3 version, then without interrupting the recording in a second step I will show in the right half of the screen that it did not work with MuseScore4...
In practice to start, as usual I connect my midi keyboard via the USB cable before starting the computer.
I open the application in MS3 version in a window on the left, I switch to Notation with the N key, I test by playing a few notes on the midi keyboard, then stop the notation by pressing the N key again, no surprise everything works fine as usual. I leave the MS3 application open.
Even before starting the recording by capturing the screen I prepare a window on the right of the screen but with the application in MS4 version. I switch to notation with the N key and play some notes on the midi keyboard, and there, for the first time it works!
Afterwards, I tried to find a configuration situation where it doesn't work. But no way. MS4 only open, macOS in French, the entry of the notes by the keyboard midi always works well (except a small delay of latency ;-).
I'm sorry I couldn't point out the origin of the problem, which has been stable during the whole month of January.
So I can no longer provide you with "video proof" of the problem, but all's well that ends well...
